Our Story

John & Lisa

John and Lisa met in January of 2024 while serving as missionaries at the Church Office Building. John was Lisa's team lead while they served in an office called The Service Project Shop. John mostly worked on the grounds of temple square and in vehicle services, detailing and maintaining cars for leaders in the church. Lisa spent the majority of her time there publishing and syndicating articles for the Africa French and Spanish Church Newsroom sites and helping translate the Book of Mormon into Chichewa.

When John's mission came to a close in May of 2024, he placed Lisa in a leadership role. Lisa was nervous she wasn't up for the task but John insisted she was. He told her he trusted her and she should believe in herself. He continued to support her when she was anxious about her abilities. They stayed in touch mostly through text and group activities with other friends from the mission for a while.

Lisa's mission ended in January of 2025 at which point she and John started to spend more one-on-one time together. They began talking a lot more and they both started to turn to each other during their struggles and doing what they could to be there for each other. During the Summer of 2025, John and Lisa spent a lot of time together. They listened to a lot of Noah Kahan and drove through a lot of canyons. Despite living in Kaysville and American Fork, they saw each other very often.

One day in June, they went and saw the F1 movie and got In & Out and went for a very long drive. They both had moments that day where they looked at the other and realized how happy and at ease they were with each other. But John and Lisa are both pretty dumb... so they didn't get together until September.

After a year and a half of friendship and a summer of it feeling like there was something unsaid between them, Lisa went to visit John during his first weekend of school in Logan. They spent the day together, laughing, listening to music, having lots of fun, and feeling so happy- just like always. That evening, the things unsaid were finally spoken.

As they say, the rest was history. Their relationship has included many ice cream dates, late night Maverick runs for Cherry Coke, lego building nights, movies, walks, visiting family, and being so excited when they didn't have to do long distance anymore.

John proposed in March of this year and they are both so excited to get married and share this joyous occasion with all of you. Thank you so much for sharing this special time with them and being there for them as they start their lives together. They couldn't be more excited!
